The above quilt was made for my doctoral advisor using her fabric scraps.

This quilt was started in 1900 by my grandmother's great-grandmother, who had a shop in Alton, Illinois.
The pattern is called "mule's ear". The "ears" are the original 19th Century fabrics. My aunt, Virginia Smith Davis, and my grandmother,
Emily Ruth Bradley Smith, replaced some faded orange fabric that formed the triangles that finish the squares with a 20th Century
calico. My aunt started quilting but she had a stroke and was unable to finish, so I finished this 6-Generation Quilt.
